The use of henna can be traced back to its early origins some six thousand years ago in Ancient Egypt. It has also been used traditionally in other parts of North Africa, the Horn of Africa, the Arabian Peninsula, the Near East and South Asia. There is also documentation that suggests that is over more than nine thousand years old. ( Birdwood, 1917)
Particularly, henna can be traced in the Gulf Peninsula as a traditionally accepted usage. The Prophet Mohammed encouraged both men and women to use it. Women donned it as a display of femininity and men as basic cosmetic aid.
